Because of the podcast I just completed, called "What is Wiccan Clergy?"  I have decided to give an example of a "Wiccan Clergy Resume."  This is my resume and it gives some of the credentials I feel are needed to call oneself "priest" or "priestess," in the Wiccan faith, but, by no means the only ones.  What I am trying to point out, is that when someone calls themselves "clergy" in Wicca, they should have more to their credit than just the fact they call themselves such; they should have some experience to back it up.

SPIRITUAL PROGRESSION:

I became a pantheistic styled Pagan in 1975, while studying Art and Philosophy at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas.

First initiated into Freemasonry in 1982 in blue lodge "Perfect Union #10."  Initiated to the 7th degree in the York Rite and currently a 32nd degree Free-mason of the Scottish Rite in the Valley of San Antonio in the Orient of Texas, Southern Jurisdiction.

Member of a private ceremonial magick study group from 1982-1993.

Attended and gave lectures, on ceremonial magick and the Kaballah, at the Theosophical Society in San Antonio between 1982-1987.

Became Wiccan in 1983 as a result of research into the symbolism of Free-masonry and ceremonial magick.

Initiated into the Lycian Tradition of Wicca in 1985, as a result of a series of astral projections that first began in 1973.

Completed writing down the core rituals of the Lycian Tradition in 1988.

I have made it a practice to read about and study some form of philosophy, mythology, occult science, theology, and other related material every day since I first started on this path in 1975.

CLERGY WORK (Coven and Other):

Performed my first initiation in the Lycian Tradition in 1989.  This began the mother coven, "Wolfsong," with me as its priest.  The coven acquired a total of twelve members and met continuously until its amicable dissolution in 2000.

Presiding priest for a public ritual of 300+ people celebrating November Eve at a Council of the Magickal Arts retreat in Oct 1993.

Began a second Lycian Wiccan coven, as priest, in Spring 2002.  It continues to the present day.  This coven is named "Mystic Wolf."

I have initiated a total of 20 members into the Lycian Tradition, four of which have reached Third Degree status.  One of these has reached ordained clergy status.

Have performed ritual "Handfastings" and "Wiccanings."  The handfastings
include both legally recognized monogamous couples and one spiritual union of a polyamorous family unit.

PUBLIC CRAFT WORK:

Produced a weekly public access television program on Wicca, "The Old Religion," from 1992 to 1994.

Started the Wiccan Workshop in April 1993 at the Unlimited Thought Bookstore.  Taught a two-hour long class on Wicca weekly until 1999.

Webmaster and author of the official site for the Lycian Tradition from 1998 to present.

Member of the Board of Directors of "The Lycian Sanctuary" the official organ of the Lycian Tradition of Wicca from Jan.1999 to Jan. 2007.

Produce the "Lycian Wicca Podcast," available through iTunes and Libsyn.com as well as other outlets.

Wrote "The Way of the Wolf: A Lycian Book of Shadows" and "The Wiccan Way," both available in digital format.

I have been interviewed by a local newspaper and a television news programs in San Antonio, Texas and have given lectures on Wicca at the high school and university levels.

I have gotten a phone number from Skype for use in conjunction with this podcast.  If you have any questions about the Lycian Tradition or Wicca in general call:  (210) 764-5050 in the United States.

I will on line at various times, for now, so it may be a hit or miss proposition.  However, you are welcome to try as often as you like.  If you get through and I answer your questions, they may be posted in a future podcast online.

Defining Wicca.

The points:

1. Recognition of the Divine as both masculine and feminine.

2. Creation of a sacred space for ritual, by casting a circle.

3. Use of four sacramental tools, which are (a) a knife, dagger or sword (b) a vessel (c) a wand, staff or cane (d) a disk, amulet, pantacle, shield or stone. Each of these are associated with an element and cardinal direction, in any combination.

4. Performance of a ritualized consecration and ingestion of food and drink.

5. Recognition of the 'Sacrament of Initiation' whether within the context of a coven or by a qualified initiator.

6. Recognition of a sacred calendar which is cyclical and has eight major holy days, although some may not be formally celebrated, on or near the following days: February First, the Spring Equinox, May First, the Summer Solstice, August First, the Autumnal Equinox, November First, the Winter Solstice.

7. Use one of several versions of the Wiccan Rede.

8. Belief in the natural law of cause and effect, which has been variously called 'the Law of Return' and 'the Threefold Law' among other appellations.

What does it mean in the Lycian Tradition of Wicca when we say, "we have been taken by the wolves"?  Here I explain part of what it is "to be wolf" in this tradition and also taken by them.

Is there truly a conflict between science and religion? Or is the conflict between the religion of two thousand years ago and the science of today?

Who should we be praying to? If we really want someone on "our side" are the deities the right place to start? Or should we be looking at Our Ancestors for help?
