Do we as Wiccans sacrifice animals? What about the food we eat; is it a sacrifice? How concerned are we about how it's done?

I think this episode brings up some great points. We have a responsibility to uphold when we take or partake in the lives of the pants and animals around us. By acknowledging where we get our nourishment, and the process that is given to be able to achieve this, I truly believe we will hold more respect for what we eat, and where it has come from. It was great to hear your point of view on this! Eating Kosher is a great idea, though I wonder if the process of slaughter is any different?

This was a little "pagan grace" used from my household.

"We honour the spirits of the plants that are about to become part of us, and we eat, secure in the knowledge that, as the cycle goes, we too, some day, in some way, will become part of another life."

Another great episode. I live in NYC and go to school in Midwood, a very orthodox neighborhood. I never thought of this before, but I think I will start shopping around my school.

    Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for both your comments. There is definitely a difference between Kosher slaughter and the "usual" slaughter. The animals are treated very well, in preparation for Kosher use, even to the point, I understand, of giving them a day of rest 1 in 7 from their daily routine. The animals cannot be sick or have any blemishes or broken bones, and so on, so their care is of utmost importance. When it comes time for the killing it is done in quickest least painful way possible. Kosher is definitely the way to go for any compassionate individual.
